Prop Bet for NFL Week 13

Bryce Young

It has been a downright awful season for Rookie Quarterback Bryce Young.

His team is the worst in the league (1-10), his head coach and QB coach just got fired, he ranks 30th in air yards (6.4), 29th in success rate and 28th in EPA/Play.

So, naturally, I am intrigued to bet his over on a prop this week.

I’m looking at his passing yards over 188.5 (-113), which is available at BetRivers. I would play it up to 193.5.

Young, along with the entire offense, will be seeking to make a statement following the termination of his HC. We see it happen all the time - a coach gets fired, the team gets inspired and wants to go out there to prove that it was the coaches fault and not the teams’.

And if there was an opponent for Young to perform well against to make it appear as if it was his former coach's fault, as opposed to his, then the Buccaneers are certainly the right team to do it against.

Tampa Bay is allowing 268 passing yards per game, which ranks them 31st. They are surrendering 11 yards per completion, 24.5 completions per game, rank 27th in drop back EPA and 23rd in drop back success rate.

Also, every single opposing quarterback has eclipsed 188.5 passing yards against the Bucs, except Derek Carr who only threw for 127 yards in week 4.

Young has gone over this current passing yards prop in just 5/10 games, though. But, with Thomas Brown presumably taking over the play calling duties again, I’m expecting to see Young increase those stats a bit more. In the three games where Brown had play calling duties, Young only went over 188.5 passing yards in just one spot, but he averaged 22.3 completions on 36 pass attempts. So at the very least we can expect the passing opportunities to increase again.

I mean, why wouldn’t they? You have nothing to lose if you’re Brown and Young and you should want to go out there to prove a point. Even Desmond Ridder threw for 250 yards against this Tampa Bay secondary!

Let’s hope Young can perform similarly as Ridder did, and also prove to his team and himself that he is deserving of a starting role in the NFL.

Play: Bryce Young Over 188.5 Passing Yards (-113); risk 1.13 units to win 1.00
